Brooks Barnhard - Owner/Boys Director/Director of Game Night

Coach Brooks was born and raised in Escondido, where he played High School basketball for Escondido HS.  From there, Coach Brooks went on to play, and be a 3 year starter, at the University of San Diego for then head coach, Hank Egan.  At USD, Coach Brooks had the pleasure to be teammates with David Fizdale, former NBA Head Coach, and Mike Brown, head assistant of the Golden State Warriors and former head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers.  In 2002, Coach Brooks started San Diego PBC focusing on camps, clinics and private lessons.  In 2006, San Diego PBC expanded by adding a boys club program run in Escondido.  San Diego PBC moved operations the Summer of 2013 to 4S Ranch.  Coach Brooks has been Head Varsity Boys Coach at Maranatha Christian for over 10 years.  He led his Varsity boys to a CIF championship in 2021. Coach Brooks has been together with his wife for 20+ years and they have two daughters, Brynn and Bailey.

 

Melissa Peng - Girls Director

Coach Melissa graduated from New York University majoring in Sports Management with a concentration in events. Coach Melissa is a San Diego native who played basketball all four years at Westview High School and was co-captain on the varsity team her senior year. While at Westview, her team made 3 CIF Finals appearances and won CIF her senior year as well as placed 8th in State. After high school, she pursued her basketball career and played at New York University in New York City, New York. There, she made the NCAA tournament both her junior and senior year playing 30+ mins as the starting point guard. Coach Melissa then returned to San Diego and was the assistant varsity coach at Westview in 2015. She then moved on and coached club basketball with the Nighthawk program was the Del Norte Girls JV Head Coach in 2018, where her team went 25-3. In 2019, she took over the Varsity program at Del Norte where she led her team to a Division 1 CIF championship in 2022. Currently, Coach Melissa is the Head Varsity Girls Coach at Westview Highs School, her alma mater.

 

Justin Wells - Boys 6th/7th Grade Director/Director of JustWin Academy

Coach Justin, who was born in Chicago, IL raised, in Los Angeles and currently living in Mira Mesa, joined the PBC family in the 2015/16 winter season. In his first season as 4th Grade Director he and the 4th Grade Blue team were Shootout Champions at the SGV Summer Finale Tournament up in Anaheim. As a young ball player growing up in LA, Coach Justin has played with and against many talented ball players who are currently playing professionally all over the world including one of the NBA's young superstars. When Coach Justin is not with his youth team he is still playing in adult leagues and tournaments all over San Diego. In addition to coaching PBC he was an assistant for Maranatha Christian Schools boys Varsity. In 2019, Coach Justin became the Head Varsity Girls Coach at Escondido Charter where he led his girls to a league championship.

 

Andrew Oribello - Boys 4th/5th Grade Director/Director of Events

Coach Andrew was raised in Escondido where he attended Escondido High School and was part of the class of 2012. While attending Escondido High, he played Varsity soccer and went on to continue his soccer career for 2 years at MiraCosta College. He transferred to San Diego State University and received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Coach Andrew participated in San Diego PBC camps and clinics while growing up, and was on the very first team when the boys club program began. He has been coaching for PBC since 2013 and was an Assistant for the Boys Varsity Basketball team at Maranatha Christian High School under Coach Brooks. Coach Andrew is currently the Head Varsity Girls Coach at San Pasqual High School.

 

Bob Allums - Girls Coach

Coach Bob was raised in El Cajon and graduated from Granite Hills High School in 1992 where he lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. After receiving his Associates degree from Grossmont College he began working as a Land Surveyor and has stayed in the Survey/Engineering field for 26 years. His coaching career began in 2008 and he has coached youth boys and girls in soccer, baseball, softball, and basketball at the recreational and club levels. Coach Bob’s coaching philosophy emphasizes individual character, fundamental skills and hard work while displaying the strength of a team over the individual. He strongly believes that great teammates make great future coworkers. Coach Bob is currently the Girls JV Basketball Coach at Cathedral Catholic High School.
